Care Guide
Timber & Veneer
Our timber pieces are crafted in both solid timber and veneer. Veneer is a fine layer of real wood applied over an engineered core — it lets us use premium logs sparingly, achieve sleeker designs, and create a surface that is more stable and resistant to warping than solid wood alone. Both are natural materials, so grain and colour will vary between pieces and mellow beautifully over time.
Everyday care
Dust regularly with a soft microfibre cloth. To maintain the finish, simply wipe with a well-wrung (barely damp) soft cloth, then dry thoroughly to prevent spotting. If you need an extra clean, a standard surface furniture spray is fine.
Spills
Clean all spills immediately — blot with a lightly damp cloth, then dry thoroughly. Don't let spills settle; moisture from drinks and the condensation from cold glasses is absorbed quickly and can mark the surface.
Protect from
Heat & moisture — never rest hot or wet containers directly on the surface. Use coasters, placemats and trivets.
Sunlight — keep out of direct or reflected sun. Concentrated light can cause veneer to fade or split.
Pressure — avoid leaving objects in the same position for long periods; undue pressure can leave permanent impression marks.
Alcohol — nail polish, perfume and other alcohol-based liquids may permanently stain the surface.
Please don't oil the finish
Our timber and veneer pieces are finished in an eco water-based paint and do not have a full PU sealer, so they're best cared for gently. Never apply furniture oil or wax — furniture oil is intended for raw solid-wood furniture only. On these finishes it won't penetrate and will leave a sticky, cloudy film that can't be removed. A well-wrung damp cloth (and a standard surface furniture spray for the occasional deeper clean) is all that's needed. Also avoid alcohol, ammonia-based and abrasive cleaners, steel wool and scourers.
Drawers, doors & hardware
For push-to-open drawers and doors, place a hand on each side to apply even pressure when opening and closing.
Don't open multiple drawers or doors at the same time — this creates a tipping hazard. Use a wall tether on tall pieces for stability.
Hutch and cabinet doors are not weight-bearing — never lean, kneel or stand on them.
Natural character
Veneer and solid timber are natural materials and will display inherent variations in grain and colour. Their surfaces are affected by light, and their character and colour will gently change over time.

Fabric & Upholstery
With the right care, your upholstered NED pieces will stay beautiful for many years. A little regular attention keeps fabrics fresh, cushions full and colours true.
Everyday care
Vacuum all fabric surfaces and cushions regularly using an upholstery brush attachment to lift dust and dirt. Rotate cushions often to spread wear evenly, and regularly "fluff and puff" — and flip where possible — to keep their shape. This is especially important for feather-filled cushions.
Spills & cleaning
Blot spills gently with a clean, damp cloth as soon as they happen — never rub. Avoid abrasive detergents and chemicals. Spot cleaning can leave rings or fading, so professional cleaning of the whole piece is best for a uniform result.
Protect from
Sunlight — keep out of direct sun to prevent UV fading; use blinds or curtains as a barrier.
Heat & sharp objects — keep away from heat sources, pets' claws and anything sharp or abrasive.
Print transfer — don't leave newspapers or printed material on upholstery, as ink can bleed into the fabric.
Misuse — never sit or stand on scatter cushions or armrests; this deforms the foam and voids the warranty.
Pilling
Some pilling may occur — this is not a fault, but a natural characteristic of woven fabric. Gently remove pills with a fabric comb or pilling machine.
Care symbols
Do not wash. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry. Do not iron. Professional wet clean — normal.
Protectors & professional cleaning
Fabric protector treatments add a layer of defence but may affect your warranty — check that any third-party provider offers their own guarantee. We recommend a professional clean roughly every 12 months, or every 6 months for pieces in daily use.
Care Guide
Metal
Our metal frames, legs and profiles are powder-coated steel and aluminium in finishes such as matte black and brass — precise, consistent and made to last with minimal upkeep.
Everyday care
Wipe with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth, then dry thoroughly. This is all that's needed to keep powder-coated and brass finishes looking their best.
Avoid
Abrasive cleaners, scourers, steel wool and harsh chemicals — these can scratch or dull the finish.
Good to know
Keep metal surfaces dry to prevent marking. These finishes are intended for indoor use and aren't suited to prolonged outdoor or damp exposure.
Care Guide
Stone
Natural stone such as travertine is porous and completely unique — no two pieces are alike. Its pits, veining and tonal variation are part of its character and add a sense of quality and permanence.
Everyday care
Dust and wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For light cleaning use a barely damp cloth, then dry the surface thoroughly.
Spills
Blot spills immediately — stone is porous and absorbs liquid quickly, which can stain. Use coasters under glasses and place mats under crockery.
Avoid
Acidic cleaners (including citrus and vinegar) and abrasive products, which can etch or dull the surface.
Good to know
Natural pits, veining and colour variation are inherent to stone and are not faults — they make each piece one of a kind.
